Rendez-vous Wrapup
The Rendez-vous 2024 conference, held this year along the scenic Saskatchewan River, concluded with notable success at the Persephone Theatre. From August 13th to August 17th, the event brought together over 150 participants for a week of innovation, learning, and networking.
Pre-conference activities commenced on August 13th with a range of specialized training sessions. These included "Training the Eye" held at the University of Saskatchewan, as well as Smaart Training, Ion XE Console Training, and a Textured Hair course—all hosted at the Persephone Theatre.
The conference officially kicked off with an Opening Soirée on August 14th, featuring an inspiring address by esteemed local Knowledge Keeper, Lyndon Linklater. The highlight of the conference was the two-day trade show held on the Rawlco Radio Hall Main Stage and Backstage Stage at Persephone Theatre. Attendees had the opportunity to explore the latest industry innovations from a diverse array of exhibitors.
Delegates enjoyed two engaging tours: one to the future site of the Caswell Bus Barns and another to the Shakespeare on the Saskatchewan site. Swag Bingo proved to be a standout success, raising over $3,000 for the AFC. Building on this success, the Rendez-vous team is aiming to exceed this amount next year as part of the celebration for Rendez-vous’ 35th anniversary.
A new addition this year was the conference app, which greatly enhanced the attendee experience, and organizers are excited to utilize it in future events. Another fresh highlight was the Forklift Challenge, set up in the Persephone lobby, providing a fun and interactive way for delegates to engage outside of the tradeshow and sessions.
The conference concluded with a Closing Reception on August 16th in the beautiful Remai Riverview Lobby, offering a relaxing end to a busy week. On August 17th, the AGM and Plenary session at the Alt Hotel fostered engaging discussions and idea exchanges, setting the stage for future developments.
